Guest Speaker Recap: Haibei Wang

On February 15, the Chinese Composer Community (CCC) hosted a Zoom guest session featuring composer Haibei Wang, who shared insights from her career working across film, musical theater, video games, and concert music.

During the session, Haibei discussed her professional workflow when handling commercial scoring projects, including how she organizes Logic sessions and structures her production process for efficiency. She also spoke about the importance of networking and maintaining professional relationships in the film and media industry, noting that many opportunities arise through collaboration and long-term connections.

The talk also touched on practical aspects of the profession, including how composers find work, approaches to negotiations, and strategies for processing revision notes from directors and clients.

In addition, Haibei shared experiences from her work writing music and songs for a musical theater production in Shanghai, offering perspectives on the collaborative process and how it differs from film scoring.

The session provided valuable insights into both the creative workflow and the professional realities of building a career as a composer in today’s media industry.
