On September 17, 2025, the Chinese Composer Community (CCC) hosted a special mixing workshop at Remote Control Productions Studio in Los Angeles, led by acclaimed Hollywood mixer Soya Soo, organized by CCC founder Jiawei Shen.
A protégé of the legendary Alan Meyerson, Soya Soo has contributed to numerous Hans Zimmer projects, including The Tomorrow War (2021), Dune: Part One (2021), and Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). Known for his precision, creativity, and musical sensitivity, Soya has established himself as one of the most respected mixers in film scoring.
During the four-hour session, Soya analyzed each participating composer’s piece in detail, identifying mixing challenges and demonstrating his personal approach to solving them. By comparing the composers’ original versions with his own remixed examples, he illustrated how balance, dynamics, and spatial design can profoundly enhance musical storytelling.
Composers from both CCC and CDC found the experience transformative—gaining not only new technical insights but also a deeper appreciation of the artistry behind professional film score mixing. The event concluded with vibrant discussion and enthusiastic applause.
